Program Description

Cap Haitien is in northern Haiti. It is the site of the historic Citadelle Laférière and Sans-Souci Palace, both UNESCO World Heritage. The 9-day trip includes travel to Miami from Bentonville airport (XNA to MIA), one night Miami, and direct flight to Cap Haitien (CAP) the following morning; We spend 7 days in Cap Haitien, then return from Cap Haitien to Miami, spend one night in Miami, then fly from Miami to Bentonville. Study abroad in Haiti offers a unique challenge to NWACC students and the community. Stretch your thinking far beyond everyday life at home and return with a sharper appreciation for your own culture and the world. In addition to the cost being more manageable, a shorter-term Study Abroad is also practical for those with demands from work, family, and other obligations. The well-known and respected tour agency Voyages Lumières is arranging in-country accommodations, visits to historical and academic sites.
